Anna Skarstad, MHC-Limited Permit
Here, we start just where you are. Here, there’s no right or wrong way. Here, there's no pressure to be more or less than what you already are. Anna believes there’s an innate wisdom and wholeness within each of us, and sometimes that part just needs to feel safe enough to emerge.
Anna’s approach to therapy is, first and foremost, human. More than anything, she hopes her clients feel comfortable, supported and truly listened to. From a clinical standpoint, she draws on person-centered, relational, and strengths-based perspectives, with influences from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), somatic awareness, and mindfulness.
Anna works with people of all ages navigating a range of challenges related to relationships and communication, identity exploration and self-acceptance, anxiety and depression, grief, trauma, parenting, major life transitions, or the malaise of being human in a complex and changing world.
She holds a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from SUNY New Paltz and a Bachelor of Arts in Arts & Visual Culture from Bates College. Anna is happiest walking in the woods, where she always learns something new. She offers in-person and telehealth sessions.
